Bristol Media 10th Anniversary Showcase

The Brief: Showing off the work of 300+ creatives, the Bristol Media 10th Anniversary showcase book had to be high quality and feel a bit special. The digital print had to be up to Litho standards and the book needed to create a great first impression. Having seen an early concept of the cover design, we suggested applying a soft touch laminate and some variable depth/textured Scodix to the 10th anniversary logo.

Testimonials: “Bristol Media’s 10th Anniversary Show book was to be distributed to 300 creatives working in Bristol’s creative and sector. It featured their work and was a celebration of 10 years of Bristol Media, so we knew this had to look the very best it could. We were thrilled with the finished publication which now sits proudly on the shelves of creative agencies throughout Bristol & Bath.” Caroline Marshall – Editor & Operations Bristol Media

BrunelPrint Field Guides

The Brief: We were looking how best to promote our print and finishing capability, and rather than the usual printer’s look book wanted to create something which was a little different. Many of our customers, and the younger creatives we deal with have, little knowledge of print, what is required and what is possible. It seems this is no longer taught, the emphasis now being digital. So we hit upon the idea of producing a series of field guides which would be a useful reference explaining all the key aspects of print but at the same time showcasing the quality of our work and the variety of specialist finishing we are capable of doing in house.

Testimonials: “Existing and potential customers alike have loved these, not only have they gained inspiration from the various techniques used but have also found them extremely useful in their studios. So much so that some customers’ were prepared to pay £20 per additional set. As a result of this activity we have secured in excess of 30 new customers” John Tugman – Director Commercial Print, BrunelPrint

Dart Booklet

The Brief: A stunningly designed piece. The challenge for us was to achieve uniformity of large areas of solid colour (black) and achieve the sharp contrast the design deserved. The Indigo, as always delivered and we were able to intensify the colour by soft touch laminating the cover and each page. This also added to the overall feel of quality.

Testimonials: “As a designer I want the very best print and finish to compliment my designs in the best possible way, and in my experience no one can assist with this like Brunel Print. There’s something really great about working with a group of passionate people to bounce ideas of one another to find the best print solutions. On this latest project, where I had chosen to go with a simple landscape booklet, I wanted to add a simple finish that would make you feel that you where holding something special and that’s exactly what we got.” Matthew Fitzgerald – Creative Director – Decon Design

Gleeds Brochure

The Brief: This was a reprint of a brochure produced by another printer. We were able to provide a more cost effective solution whilst still maintaining the standout of the original design. A great example of the effectiveness of Scodix on metallised laminates.

Testimonials: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Lisa and the Brunel Print team, not only were the client delighted with the finished booklet but we were very happy with the service we received. After we placed our order Lisa got back to us and we realised we had asked for the wrong spec. Thankfully Lisa asked us for a sample of what we were trying to produce and figured out the spec we really wanted. The team quickly produced samples for us, which our clients loved. The process was made easier by the marvelous
customer service and even when there were issues, these were dealt with quickly and without hassle.” Simone, Hobs Digital

Mazda Aurora Borealis Brochure

The Brief: Mazda were introducing their all-new CX-3 Artic Drive to the motoring press and wanted an impactful, in car brochure as a reference manual for participants of an artic drive.

The brochure needed to be on brand, high quality and in keeping with an Artic expedition. The preferred format was saddle stitching, so in order to create a WOW factor, we suggested a combination of stocks to lift the brochure. GF Smith GMUND Action Night Offshore Blue combined with white ink for the cover, Curious Translucent for the introduction & credits pages and Lumisilk for the general text. National Wind Farm Training Centres

The Brief: BrunelPrint worked closely with the client, NWTFC (National Wind farm Training Centres), to produce an innovative folder solution to hold their marketing material and also a branded pen. The solution was to produce a folder that had a wrap around cover that incorporated the pen in the spine. As the folder was printed litho and the inserts were printed on a HP Indigo a key factor was consistency in brand colours across all items.

Testimonials: “We were completely blown away by the folder and inserts. The soft touch and Scodix really made everything stand out. We were delighted with the solution for the penholder on the spine of the folder, which we didn’t think would be possible. We are also delighted with the finished package; the print, colour and quality are perfect. It has been extremely well received by our partners and clients.”

SOHO Coffee Co Brand Concept

The Brief: The saintnicks Agency were briefed with re-branding the SOHO Coffee Co. They came to us with a range of print requirements for an important investors presentation. One of the elements was for a document that would pull all the elements of the branding concepts together. We proposed an A5 Landscape Layflat book on the basis that it would not only be visually impactful but also an impressive format; the edge-to-edge graphics doing justice to both the branding concepts and the visuals of the store layouts.

Testimonials: “Our brand book is a superb example of the quality, creativity and cheeky humour of our artisan proposition brought to life. This same personality needed to be captured and presented in book form to allow us chance to really show off our brand. Bristol Media Vision Conference Programme

The Brief: The Vision Conference is a two day ‘Creative’ conference held Bi-Annually in Bristol aiming to give delegates a fresh, clear perspective on the current state of the creative sector and its future. The theme for the 4th Conference was ‘Creative Freedom’. Bristol Media wanted a Delegates program, which was seen as ‘cutting edge’ and in keeping with the creative innovation being discussed by a demanding audience!

The Customers View: “The programmes were extremely well received with a couple of delegates really disappointed that they had mislaid theirs. One delegate even chose the page with his name on it as his Twitter image! The personalisation of the name and the timetable was unexpected and coupled with Mason Zimbler’s beautiful design, made them quite covetable. I was delighted with the results, which provided delegates with a valuable memento to take away from the Conference and helped make Vision 2014 our most successful Conference yet”
